We didn't have to work over the weekend so we could do whatever we wanted. After waiting for my coworker Chris to get ready for a really long time, we finally walked out of the hotel around 1215. Almost immediately Chris started bitching about how cold it was. It was mid 30s with a wind chill in the 20s so it was cold. But we were wrapped up with coats and gloves. Chris was complaining about how his water shoes, which have holes in them and are meant to be used while you are in the water, were not keeping his feet warm. And he is moving to Zurich in February. He is not going to do well in the freezing cold. Good luck, Jody, putting up with her husband in the winter!
After eating some lunch we jumped on a city tour bus. This was a good, quick way to see the city. We saw the US millitary base. A temple. A shopping area. We got out at the N Seoul Tower. This is a radio tower on type of the tallest mountain in the city. From there you had a great view of the city. There was an interesting historic Korean ritual going on with swords and yelling. The railing at viewing promenade was covered in thousands of small locks. ITs a strange sight. I have pictures of it but they are on my camera and I can't upload until I get home. Sorry!
It was so cold up there and after waiting for a while for our bus, we jumped in a cab and headed to the Hyatt for a beer. The Hyatt was right next to the Tower and had a great view of the city. After our $10 beer we headed to Itaewon neighborhood to kill some more time. We hit Nashville Extension Sports Pub. It was a small, smoky place frequented by what seemed to be American military guys, some that were hot heads.
We finally got hungry and needed some American grub so we went to Outback Steakhouse. When we were about done, my buddy Jeff's cousin Jason showed up. He took us out to meet some friends for drinks. It was a fun night, did some dancing and drank some beers.
Dude, it was seriously 9 degrees, not 30.
